About This Item
Boston: George H Holden at the Franklin Press, 1883. Hardcover 1st edition, brown cloth with gilt bird on front cover, dark brown titles and further decoration. Profusely illustrated with b&w plates and some magnificent chromolithographic plates throughout. 364 pages plus index and advertising section at back (truly fascinating!). Condition issues: both front and back hinges have mesh exposed. General shelf and edgewear, rubbing. Bumped corners. A few pencil annotations, primarily confined to contents page and in the canary section - nothing terrible and no text is obscured. Sound worse than it is - interior binding is strong, most tissue guards present. A handsome volume. First Edition. Good.
