About This Item
Washington, Library of Congress, 1952. Mrs. Coolidge recalls her patronage of chamber music and the establishmernt of the Berkshire Music Festival in Pittsfield, MA. This copy is inscribed "To dear Mrs. Koussevitski Lenox July 26th 1952." This would have been Serge Koussevitsky's third wife (his first one, married during his student days and discarded when wealthy Natalia appeared, is conveniently forgotten in most biographies), Olga Naumoff K. (1901-1978). The monied wife, Natalia Ushkova K. (b. 1880), had helped Serge Koussevitzky established HIS Berkshire Music Festival at Tanglewood in Lenox. She died in 1942, Serge married Olga in 1947, and died in June 1951, so he could have heard this talk. A great association copy for Berkshire music. Soft Cover. 14 pages; 23 cm. Vg/ wrappers. Stock#NS0068.
