New York : A.L. Burt Book. Illus. by H.M. Paget. Fine. Hardcover. F/NJ An extremely rare edition of G.A. Hently's classic, this hardcover book is over 112 years old, and in Fine condition. Precise printing year is not listed. Gift inscription on the front flyleaf reads: ". . . Merry Christmas 1900. . . " Spine is strong and straight, pages are crisp and unmarked (besides the inscription), possibly unread. Slight shelf wear and bumping at corners and edges of spine. Twelve Full-Page Illustrations by H. M. Paget provide visual stimulation to accompany this tale which begins at the Westminster School, which Henty himself had attended during the years 1847-51 -- the time of this narrative, following a brave lad who crosses the Atlantic and the American continent as a participant in the California gold rush..
