London.: The Illustrated London News. March 27,1858.. Two half-page engravings: 15.5 and 17.6 x 22.7 cm on a single newspaper leaf, explanatory text for each engraving overleaf, a top corner chipped, edgewear, sheet toned, sound condition. Engravings prepared for "The Illustrated London News" during the Second Opium War (1856-1860). The upper engraving illustrates Allied French and British Forces attempting to scale the wall during the Second Battle of Canton (1857). The associated text overleaf claims the feat for the French.
