London: Printed for J[ohn] S[tarkey] and are to be sold by Dorman Newman, 1670. [8], 330pp, [2]. With an engraved portrait frontispiece and a final leaf of publisher's advertisements. Contemporary sprinkled calf, ruled in gilt and blind, contrasting dark green morocco.lettering-piece. Rubbed, later naive repair to top corner of upper board. Armorial bookplate of Gaddesden Library to FEP, title page mounted at gutter to leaf A2, occasional spotting. The first edition in English of Italian Protestant historian Gregorio Leti's (1630-1701) vitriolic attack on Roman Catholic hierarchy and associated nepotism, first published in 1668.
