An extremely fine copy in violet pastepaper boards with title stamped in silver to front cover, author to spine. (2 1/2 by 2 in.; 62 x 50 mm).

Synopsis

The Cask of Amontillado (sometimes spelled The Casque of Amontillado ) is a short story by Edgar Allan Poe, first published in 1846. The story is set in an Italian city in the 1700's during a celebration in the streets. Montressor finds his old friend Fortunato, who has insulted him. Using the promise of a rare cask of Amontillado wine as bait, he lures poor drunken Fortunato to his wine cellar to exact his terrible revenge.
