Octavo. 2800+ pp, with b&w illustrations, Vol I - A-B; Vol II - C to J; Vol III -K; Vol IV - K to M; Vol V - M - P; Vol VI - P to S; Vol VII - T to Z; Castes and Tribes of Southern India is a seven-volume encyclopedia of social groups of Madras Presidency and the princely states of Travancore, Mysore, Coorg and Pudukkottai published by British museologist Edgar Thurston and K. Rangachari in 1909. This copy was reprinted from the original, each 5.75" x 8.75" dark brown leatherette boards, with gilt design and letters. Gilt letters and design with partial rubs, but all are legible. Bindings all tight, pages clean unmarked, with some board corners bumped, with light wear to spine top/bottom. .
