Two thick volumes containing a history of English castles, illustrated with numerous tissue-protected plates printed in sepia or black and white, additional smaller illustrations including floor plans, etc. Red cloth printed in gilt, 11.25 inches tall, each volume about two inches thick. Covers lightly soiled and rubbed with some tears and fraying to the spines, hinges internally cracked but secure, text blocks sound, some light foxing to the margins of a few plates, some creasing of tissues, names on front free endpapers, pages otherwise clean and unmarked.. First Edition. Hard Cover. Fair. 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall.
