Garden City, NY: Doubleday, 1948 Book. Very Good. Hardcover. 1st Edition. Same date, 1948: Stated First Edition. VG+/none. Black boards with author's blind stamp. Gilted titles on spine. Lower front edge of board has a small crimp in it. First page has the top right corner 1" by 3" cut out - perhaps to cut out a PO's signature? otherwise, clean, tight edition. A story of Spain during the inquisiiton in which the people were concernerd with the miracle of how Catalina regained the full use of her leg..
Synopsis
W. Somerset Maugham was born in Paris in 1874. He began to study medicine in London but quit to focus exclusively on writing. In 1926 he bought a house in Cap Ferrat, France, which was to become a meeting place for a number of writers, artists and politicians. He died in 1965.
