Ex-library with label residue at spine tail. Library labels and stamps on endpapers. Worn corners and spine ends. Some thumbing. Blind stamp and mark on title page. Red ink stamps on dedication and contents pages and mark on lower edge of text block. Scarce. x.

In addition to being a collector, Frederick Nettlefold (1833-1913) was one of Victorian England's "Captains of Industry," taking over his father's brass company when the latter took up a political career. Nettleford was also a leader in the Unitarian Church and served as lay President of its international organization. Discusses the early life of R. W. Martin, Martin's brothers, the F. J. Nettlefold collection. Also includes bibliography, collections, exhibition lists, and index.
