[London]: J. Davy & Sons, [1864]. v, [1], 222pp. Contemporary navy morocco-backed marbled paper boards, contrasting red and black calf lettering-pieces. Rubbed, spine sunned, corners exposed. Scattered spotting. Priced throughout in manuscript, entries occasionally accompanied by the name of the purchaser. The auction catalogue, priced in a contemporary uniform hand, of the ten-day sale, commencing 20th July, 1864, of the extensive library of satirical and miscellaneous writer George Daniel (1789-1864). In all the sale realised (with the prints, pictures, and porcelain) a total of £15,865, of which the books accounted for over £14,000. The sixth day, allocated to his editions of Shakespeare, commanded great interest. Daniel's First Folio (purchased by him for £100) sold to the Baroness Burdett-Coutts for £716 2s. . 8vo.
