London: The Starling Press Ltd.. Very Good+ with no dust jacket. 1984. First Edition. Hardcover. 095086420X . Red boards with bright gilt titling to the spine. No dustjacket. There are light marks to the boards and light foxing (brown) spots to the page fore-edges. There is a blind stamped impression of an unknown seal left on the front paste-down endpaper. There are NO inscriptions or other marks. 424 pp. Introduction consists of: 'The Hospital', 'The Medical School' and 'The Library and the Collection'. The Catalogue consists of: 'Monographs', 'Periodicals' and 'Manuscripts'. Overall, apart from the minor 'faults', as detailed above, this is an Clean, Tight and Secure, 'Very Good Plus' copy. "The idea of an institutional library housed within the Hospital for communal use by students and medical staff appears to have been well- established by the 1740s. The collection was to be accumulated, principally, by way of donations from authors who had some association with the Hospital or School." ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall .
