About This Item

London: Department of Surgery, St. Thomas's Hospital Medical School, 1964. First edition. Hardcover. Very Good. Bound typescript in black buckram boards with gilt titling on front and spine. Deaccessioned from Toronto General Hospital's Fudger Health Sciences Library, with the expected stamps on front endpages and spine markings. Interior pages are clean and crisp. Typescript is on thin, nearly sheer paper; tissue-guarded tipped-in plates throughout are from other books on Astley's works including those on hernias and testicles.

Author Davis once held the same position as Astley at London's St. Thomas's Hospital, though many years later, and undertook this catalogue raisonne as a labor-of-love tribute. 4to. 281 pp.
