Boston: Houghton Mifflin, 1942. First edition. Hardcover. g+. Large Quarto. 31 (1)pp. Original red illustrated cloth with black lettering on cover. Illustrated title page. The first book by Hans Augusto and Margret Rey which mentions "Curious George," the monkey character to become famous in a series of seven Curious George titles. Rey introduces him here as one of the nine monkeys: "Curious George who was clever, too." Binding with light wear along edges and water stains on covers with light bleeding of red to foredge though not wavy. Some small red color spots in margins of pages 10-15. Inscription on free front endpaper "1956 Happy Birthday to Odom from Dad." Block lightly age-toned. Binding in overall good-, interior in good+ to very good condition.
