A binding was added later as well as pads for the corner's of the book. the previous owners names are written on the inside of the front cover and on the top of the third blank page. The pages are yellowing and tanning. The edges of most of the pages are worn. Comprising Book III - reign of Pribislaus II to Albert I 1329; and Book IV - of the Dukes of Mecklenburg, from Albert I to Henry the Fat, 1329-1423. Complete with 2 full page engravings. Bound in an exceptional contemporary full leather binding with extensive gilt tooling and an intricate star design to boards. Raised bands to spine. The binding has some darkening to the spine, some tenderness at the top of the joint with the front board, and some wear to corners and edges. Marbled endpapers. Aeg. Contents in very good condition - occasional light spotting and some offsetting from the engravings to the text. A lovely volume.

London: John Wilkie, 1775. 2nd Edition . Very Good Plus. 5 x 8.25 inches (13 x 21 cm). Recent quarter black morocco leather binding with marbled boards. Spine has five raised bands and gilt title. Light staining to lower corner of first few pages, half title page has three small holes to the inner margin and an ink spot, small mark and hole to outside margin of title page, a couple of light marks elsewhere but text is generally in very clean condition throughout. A couple of text pages have slight loss to the margins, page 39/40 has a tear to the centre of the page with very slight loss (no loss to text), there are also a few corrections to the text in old ink (these are not noted in the errata.) Leaves C3 and C4 (pages 13-16) are very tightly cropped to the outer margin, on p13 the text runs right to the edge of the page but is complete.
