The Century Illustrated Magazine - February, 1885 (with 1st appearance of 'HUCKLEBERRY FINN" - 3rd and final installment) by Mark Twain - 1885

This is an original issue of "The Century Illustrated Monthly Magazine" from February, 1885. The highlight of this issue is the third and final installment of the first appearance of Mark Twain's "THE ADVENTURES OF HUCKLEBERRY FINN." Prior to being published in book form, the story first appeared in three serialized installments within The Century magazine. The installment in this issue is titled "Royalty on the Mississippi" and follows the 1st installment titled "An Adventure of Huckleberry Finn" (December, 1884), and the 2nd installment titled "Jim's Investments and King Sollermun" (January, 1885). Also in this issue is first appearance of "The Bostonians" (chapters I through V - preceding the story's publication in book form) by Henry James, and "The Battle of Shiloh" by Ulysses S. Grant - please see the photos for the complete list of contents. There are illustrations throughout, including many wonderfully illustrated advertisements.

Condition:
Clean covers. There are four strips of clear tape along the length of the spine. Chipping/small pieces missing along the perimeter of the front cover; the back cover has notable tears and pieces missing, especially at the bottom-left corner (see photos). Both covers and all pages are firmly attached. Nice interior - the pages are mostly clean with only some occasional light foxing and staining/smudges here and there. Overall the magazine is in Good- condition.
