About This Item

New York: The Century Co., 1909. Book Condition: Fair due to speckles over edges and surface of boards. Green cloth boards and dark green spine title box; gilt titles. Gilt top edge of pages. Spine feels loose, yet pages still bound tightly. Fore-edge, bottom edge lightly tanned. Inside 506 p. clean with no marks. Grayscale plates by (.) Hammond, and 'FLS'. From a set of Eliot's fiction: Begins with Romola, Book Three, Chapter IV. Romola was first published by Eliot in 1863, and begins in The Works, Volume II. Silas Marner is complete in this volume. Born Mary Ann Evans, 1819, the author adopted the male name so as to be taken seriously as a writer in a world of many female light romance writers. Very good. No dust jacket. Light edge wear.. Hard Cover. Fair/No Jacket.
