About This Item

Sydney, Australia: Art Gallery of New South Wales, 2003. Book. Fine. Soft cover. 4to - over 9¾ - 12" tall. Softcover. Condition: Fine, binding sound, no inscriptions. 208pp. Many colour illustrations. This publication coincided with the exhibition of work by the British born Australian artist Charles Conder (1868-1909) held at the Art Gallery of New South Wales from June 14th to 17th August 2003. The exhibition then toured to Melbourne and Adelaide. Richly illustrated with colour reproductions of Conder's paintings, prints and watercolours on silk, it includes a contribution from one of his biggest collectors, Barry Humphries and tracks his career from famous Heidelberg images to Paris where as an habitue of the Moulin Rouge he met Toulouse-Lautrec and to England and France where he counted Wilde and Beardsley as intimates..
