About This Item
DS. 2pg. January 4, 1954. New York City. A New York City Police Department pistol permit signed “Charles Edison” on the verso and with his left thumbprint. The front of the document states that the sixty-three year old lives at 301 Park Avenue and is Chairman of the Board of Thomas A. Edison, Inc. At the top is typed “Colt-38-701433”. There is a vertical central fold, probably from where he folded it to put in his wallet, and an impressed seal through much of his photograph. The permit is accompanied by two 1953 letters from the Police Department’s Pistol License Bureau to Edison about the application.
