About This Item
Boston: Houghton Mifflin Company, 1936. First Edition . Hardcover. First edition, very good+ in a very good dust jacket. Beige cloth with dark brown lettering on spine and front board. The book spine is just slightly darkened, and there is a 1/4" nick in the cloth at the top of the spine. Owner signature and date (1936) on the front endpaper, beneath which is affixed an uncancelled three cent postage stamp commemorating the Texas Centennial, also in 1936. The jacket has loss of about 1/4" across the top of the spine, and some edgewear and rubbing. Corners have small chips and the jacket has light general soiling. The $3.50 price is present on the front flap, and the book is square and tight. Includes two page map near front, illustrations by Harold Bugbee, a note on bibliography, and an index; 485 pages. One of the iconic books on the Texas cattle industry and Texas history.
