About This Item
Ward, Lock & Co. Hardback. Very Good/No Jacket. Undated edition hardback, circa late 19th Century (preface dated 1872), with no jacket. 6 x 8.5 inches, 670 pages and heavy. In overall very good condition, light blue boards, with fine illustration to front, are quarter bound in green buckram, with bright gilt titles and illustrations - a little worn to corners and spine head and tail. Binding overall tight and square but gutter strained between pages iv and v with mesh showing and first 5 pages a little loose but still firmly attached; no annotations or inscriptions - owners name in ink (very neat) to ffep, faint tanning to page-ends but text and fantastic illustrations (by Phiz) are clean and clear throughout.
