About This Item

New York: Henry Holt and Company, 1914. An important personal view of the great and doomed Irish leader by his older brother; after the death of Charles he returned from America and eventually would stand and be elected MP himself in 1895. This is a Very Good (Plus) copy of the First American Edition, which preceded the English (Constable, 1916). An uncommon title. All institutional holdings are the English edition. Black cloth binding with blindstamped titling on the spine. Clean text; xi, 312 pages, with Index and Appendices. Fore and bottom edges deckle. Frontis portrait by Sydney P. Hall; without a tissue guard, it has offset to the Title Page. Corners mildly bumped and with some light rubbing to the head and foot of the spine. No dustjacket.. First American Edition.. Hard Cover. Very Good (Plus)/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
