Charming, original illustration throughout this first edition by Joseph Schindelman. Includes the infamous Oompa-Loompa illustrations (excised in later editions). Set into volume is First Day Cover beautifully signed by Roald Dahl for the "The Year of the Child" in 1979: "Roald Dahl." First Day of Issue envelope features four charmingly illustrated postal stamps with silver silhouettes of the Queen and color designs of: "The Tale of Peter Rabbit; The Wind in the Willows; Winnie-the-Pooh; and, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland." Also, what appears as a child's color drawing with row of little ones waving in wheeled carts. Very attractive. Pictorial white cloth boards feature the original jacket design at front, spine, and back cover. Boards with moderate discoloration, some corner, edge wear, bump.
