About This Item

London: T. Fisher Unwin, 1905. (Richard) Barry O'Brien (1847-1918) was a lawyer, historian, and journalist; politically, he was aligned with Charles Stuart Parnell, but here he edits a volume of Irish history intended for children, part of a series. First published in 1896, this is a Very Good (Plus) to Near Fine copy of the Third Edition. Green cloth binding with gilt titling on the spine and front cover, which has a colour print of the Irish coast tipped-in. The price (1/6 net) is blindstamped onto the cover as well. Clean text; 330 pages, indexed, with a fold-out map. This copy has been INSCRIBED by "The Editor" on the FFEP to Anthony Birrell. Quercus believes this to be the son (b. 1892) of the politician (and also a barrister) Augustine Birrell. A few bumps and some minor rubbing. A very sweet little book. . Inscribed By Author. Third Edition. Decorative Cloth. Very Good (Plus)/No Jacket. 16mo - over 5¾" - 6¾" tall.
