There is some rubbing of the bindings, light spotting to the preliminary pages and the edges of the text block, and a short ownership inscription to each volume; overall, this set is in good condition. This is a mixed edition set; volume 1 is a second edition (from 1909) and volume 2 is a first edition (from 1910).

Solid bindings. <br> Arthur Hummel Sr. (1884-1975) was an American Christian missionary to China, head of the Asian Division of the Library of Congress, a well known Sinologist, and editor of Eminent Chinese of the Ch'ing Period. He was the first President of the Association for Asian Studies. This is an oversized or heavy book, which requires additional postage for international delivery outside the US.
