About This Item

New York, NY: Random House, 1970. 1st Edition 1st Printing. Cloth. Very Good/No Jacket. Folio - over 12 - 15" tall. In English, not in Chinese. Presumed first printing of the first edition. Prepared and produced by Chanticleer Press. Printed in Italy. 13.75 x 10.5 inches. Bound in pea green cloth, with faded gilt-stamped design to the front board and faded lettering to the spine. Very gently bumped spine head and tail, and with sharp corners. Text block firmly bound in. The pattern for the endpapers is from a fine example of a Ming dynasty silk brocade. 299 numbered pages, plus unnumbered index pages, all of heavy coated stock. Numerous color photos of Chinese furniture and furnishings, including seven full-color, full-page plates, plus many additional B&W photos, figures and drawings. All of the white on black line drawings in chapter two were done from the pictures of the miniature furniture found in the P'an Family tomb. The furniture is all datable to 1578. An impressively clean interior. No stains, stampings or underlining noticed. No dust jacket, [as issued?]. Housed in a sturdy, glossy paper-covered slipcase with very minor abrading/rubbing at all corners. Slipcase also with separation crack along the top half of the spine at the front of the slipcase, but holding fast. A respectfully read book. A Very Good copy in a Good Only slipcase. 6 lbs. 11 oz.

About Marc Sena Carrel

I deal principally in rare and fine books. I also sell antique prints, including Japanese ukiyo-e. I have eclectic and wide-ranging interests and my collection generally emphasizes art titles. Areas of book specialization include: Art, Architecture, Design, Antiques, Antiquities, Small Press/Fine Press. As for prints, I am chiefly interested in ukiyo-e, ornithologicals, iconography and churches. I have a small but choice selection of books and prints available for the discriminating collector/buyer. My goal is to establish and maintain a stock in trade of a few thousand fine books and a few hundred noteworthy prints.
