Good in decorative green boards with a cream paper spine label printed in red (spine covering beginning to split next to the back cover) . Facsimile edition. A privately printed facsimile of the 1889 edition with a brief introduction by Braun in which he comments that, unlike many of Hearn's works, this novel is set on the Louisiana coastal islands where "American engineers are carrying out their vast undersea oil-recovery operations and [where] American engineering stands firm and safe against just such a hurricane that wrought the tragedy of 'Chita'." Braun was himself an engineer and founder of a company which specialized in petrochemical processing, among other things. 204 pp.
