About This Item

London: SCM Press, 1970. A near Fine very clean, tight and unmarked copy which has a little foxing to top edge with near Fine dustjacket. Translated from the German by R.A. Wilson. Uniform with the Library of Philosophy and Theology Series. Friedrich Gogarten, who died in 1967, was one of a most distinguished generation of German philosophers and theologians which included, among others, Karl Barth, Rudolf Bultmann, Paul Tillich and Karl Jaspers. This was his last full length book, published in his eightieth year, and represents a summary of his life's work in philosophy, systematic theology and exegesis, centring on the two questions which still occupy Christians as they always have done: 'Who was the man Jesus?', and 'Who is Christ for us today?'. The writings of the most important German theologians, Althaus, Bultmann, Kasemann, Bornkamm, Fuchs, Ebeling, are discussed, but the importance of the book is Gogarten's own contribution. **** NOT EX LIB **** R1. First Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good/Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
