Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. First Edition. 462 pp. James William Edward Doyle (illustrator). 81 color illustrations. Rare in its original cloth and binding. Gilt text block edges. A highly regarded and detailed history of England from 55 B.C. to 1485 A.D. Cloth has been rubbed at the top and bottom of spine as well as cloth loss at the tips. Book is square. Hinges are a little strained but remain firm. Pages are bright and clean with some odd spots.
