392 [i.e. 292], 76, [2] p. (the last blank) : ill. (engravings) ; 20 cm.The first part is a compilation of writings on Alchemy. The second part, 'Commentatio de Pharmaco Catholico' is usually attributed to Monte Snyder and is a translation of his 'Von der universal Medicin'. It is said that the work was favoured by Newton.Illustrated with beautiful emblemata of of the planets (the other plates are diagramatic).
A fine copy in contemporary vellum. Not in the trade.
"Ouvrage devenu introuvable et qui renferme intégralement la doctrine secrète des frères de la Rose-Croix... Il est vraisemblable que l'abbé Sepher tenait pour auteur du Chymica Vannus le Philalèthe..." (Catalogue de l'abbé Sepher). "Très mystérieux ouvrage d'alchimie et de philosophie mystique publié en mai 1666 par les frères de la Rose-Croix: il est singulier de texte et de figures et se trouve difficilement en librairie..." indique Gaïta, 891.
