About This Item
1876 Jules Verne Five Weeks in Balloon Voyages Illustrated 80 Days Hetzel ed
"Reality provides us with facts so romantic that imagination itself could add nothing to them."
― Jules Verne
Jules Verne's adventure novels are some of the most popular and famous works of literature of all time. Known mostly for his works of science fiction, 'Voyages Extraordinaires' was Verne's largest collection of fantasy novels and stories. 'Around the World in 80 Days' perhaps Verne's most famous work of all was developed almost directly from Verne's early work entitled 'Five Weeks in a Balloon' – the work that first brought Verne his popularity.
'Five Weeks' gives glimpses of what it would be like to explore in Africa, which was a highly foreign concept to European explorers at the time.
Note on dating: like many other Verne first editions, the title page included was issued in each edition, including later printings. The dating comes from the ads in the back of the book – note the ads in this volume advertise for the releases in the 1876-1877 print year.

Synopsis
(Trepignements frenetiques.)_ »
