About This Item

London: HarperCollins, 1993. First. Hard Cover. Very Good/Very Good. A neat, bright copy. First impression. Quarto in original red boards with gilt title and credits to spine, map endpapers. 352 pages including black & white line illustrations / decorations throughout by Olivia Fraser, glossary, select bibliography and index. Top edge a little dusty, previous owner's name on flyleaf and half-title pages, a small closed tear and *very slight* creasing to top edge of dustjacket. William Dalrymple is a talented researcher and a superb and important writer on India past and present. He spends much of his life in Delhi and this book is a loving portrait of a city. A nice copy.
