London, H.J.Gibbs, 4 Tavistock-Street, Strand, 1850.. FIRST EDITION 1850. 8vo, approximately 200 x 120 mm, 7¾ x 4¾ inches, 4 plates (as called for on the title page) by F.H.T. Bellew, (Frank Henry Temple Bellew), pages: xii, 1-250, bound in 19th century half black roan, double gilt rules to spine, cloth sides, yellow endpapers. Binding rubbed, upper hinge slightly cracked, corners worn with board showing at tips, shelf wear to edges, light staining to cloth, lacks title label, top margins slightly shaved, shaving an early signature on title page, small chip to 2 margins (see attached image) no loss to text, a tiny chip to 1 other margin, pale brown offset from plates to text, occasional light foxing, a very good copy.
