Finely bound in unsigned contemporary half vellum over marbled boards, gilt rules to covers, back ornately gilt with red morocco title label and black morocco tail date label with all lettering in gilt, matching marbled end pages and page edges. Very Good Plus, shelf rubs bottom edges, end pages moderately foxed with only the occasional scattered spot of toning throughout the text. Excellent provenance, with the bookplates and ownership signatures of Mr. Sharon Turner, noted British historian and author of the important "History of the Anglo-Saxons, published 1799-1805. SCARCE, Worldcat shows only 7 institutional holdings, last copy at auction in 2002. . First Edition. Half Vellum . Very Good Plus/No Jacket, As Issued. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
