The book is in chronological order, from the beginning of the Civil War to its end. Each chapter covers a period of the War. Within each chapter there is a table of the actions of the 10th New York Cavalry, descriptions of these actions, maps showing the locations of each action (mostly in Virginia), some official reports, CWSAC reports of each action where available, Justus Matteson and Mary Hatch letters, and current photos where some of the actions occurred.
