This is the first Volume of the 40th Anniversary Edition of the 1958 original. The author guides the reader through the prelude to the War-largely through the lives of Davis and Lincoln- and then into the victories and failures of the first ten months of the conflict- Fort Sumter, Manassas, and Fort Henry. Many photographs added over the content of the original volume. A clean very presentable copy.
