Good. 462 pages, including 120-page appendix "The Civilization of the Renaissance in Pictures" with 100 b&w plates (art, architecture and monument reproductions), plus 23 pages front matter and foreword. The foreword to this edition of the S.G.C. Middlemore translation of Burckhardt's essay, which first appeared in 1860, is by the Austrian-British publisher and art historian Ludwig Goldscheider, founder of Phaidon Press, who also selected and provided explanatory notes for the plates. 12mo, red cloth with gilt lettering in black insets, spine sunned, light shelf wear, two tiny white paint spots on front board, edges age-toned, Grolier Book Shop sticker on ffep. Names of former owners Profs. Ann and Warner Berthoff written on ffep, their underscoring and/or marginalia on approximately 15 pages.

Heavier or oversized items may incur a shipping surcharge, which will be stated to the buyer before finalization of the transaction. Shipping charge may be reduced on some books weighing less than 1 lb to U.S. addresses. International Priority shipping charges may be reduced on books that fit in a USPS small flat-rate box. International Standard (First-Class Package International) shipping charges may be reduced for a second or more books if the total package weight does not exceed 2 lb.
