John Murray, London, 1947. Book. Good. Hardcover. 1st Edition. First Edition (first printing). Small 4to. 224pp. Yellow cloth lettered in white at the spine and with a white-stamped decoration to the upper board. With two-colour script-decorated endpapers, a title page design, eight colour plates, one map, five full-page line drawings and various illustrations in the text. Board margins and text block edges spotted, and the free endpapers lightly toned. Former owner name inked to the half-title. A nice crisp copy in price-clipped pictorial dust wrapper, a little rubbed and chafed in places with some internal repair. A book about Greece; the author's first foray into travel writing ("This is not a ramble, nor a travel book, nor yet a guide, but a 'description' in the eighteenth-century meaning of the term")..
