A stunning first printing of the first American edition [Putnam NY (1989)], inscribed by author Tom Clancy directly on the half title page to decorated US Army veteran Colonel Floyd R Martin. The book is in near fine condition with some toning on the page edges and bumping at the spine ends but no remainder marks, a tight and square binding, with no owner inscriptions or highlighting and no staining or marking. The dust jacket is also in near fine condition, not price-clipped ($21.95), with some toning on the flaps but with no creases, chips or tears and absolutely minimal shelf wear. Synopsis
Clear and Present Danger is a novel by Tom Clancy, written in 1989, and is a canonical part of the Ryanverse. In the novel, Jack Ryan is thrown into the position of CIA Acting Deputy Director (Intelligence) and discovers that he is being kept in the dark by his colleagues who are conducting a covert war against the Medellín Cartel based in Colombia. The title of the book is based on the legal phrase "clear and present danger".
