About This Item

Boston and New York: Houghton Mifflin, 1904 Book. Very Good. Hardcover. 1st Edition. Same date to title and copyright pages. Green boards with imprint of branches and leaves, gilt titles to front and spine. Bumped and a tad bit of fraying at spine corners. Library seal pressed on front cover, "Public Library"in the outside of the circle, "SF" in the center. The seal adds to the art on the front cover and creates a unique piece.(Really!) I'll be sure to get a close up photo of the seal. Beautiful cover. Prefatory Note: "The chapters of this book were witten week by week for simultaneous publication in the "Evening Transcript" of boston and the "Mail and Express" of New York, ad were intended to be a kind of weekly chronicle of the course of events out-of-doors, as witnessed by a natural-historical observer. Some of the chapter titles: In the Cambridge Swamp, A Day in Franconia, Old Colony Berry Pastures, Flying Squirrels and Spade-Foot Frogs, and Woodcock Vespers.
