About This Item
New York: Doubleday, Page & Co, 1926. Pictorial boards. Very Good +/Very Good. William Nicholson. An impressive copy of the 1926 correct 1st American edition, published by Doubleday, Page and including the 23 chromolithographs by the great British painter and illustrator William Nicholson (1872-1949) along the rectos. This copy also comes with a bright, presentable example of its uncommon pictorial dustjacket. The book is tight and VG+ (very light creasing and wear at the tips and along the front fore-edge), the dustjacket is crisp and VG- to VG, with light chipping along the panel edges, most notably along the front fore-edge and at the spine crown. Still though, attractive and very presentable.

On Jan 10 2011, Amacadam said:
William Nicholson is a superb illustrator of children's books--The Pirate Twins and Velveteen Rabbit are perhaps his most famous efforts. Clever Bill, a story he wrote, is a wonderful evocation of a child's relationship with a special toy.
