About This Item

New York: Grosset & Dunlap, 1955 No. 26 of the Judy Bolton series. Judy and Peter visit a dilapidated castle to see what they can discover for a newspaper article. While outside the castle walls, Judy and Peter hear mysterious violin music playing from within. They learn that nobody has seen castle owner John Dent and also learn that some local children have been missing for several hours. Judy and Peter decide they must find a way inside the castle to find John Dent and the children in case they are being held captive by a mean caretaker. Refers to self on front flap of DJ, refers to self on the half title verso, refers to Nancy Drew's The Scarlet Slipper Mystery on back of DJ. Condition notes: (x), 176 numbered pp +1; HB w/DJ. Pages: clean, bright, tight, brown topstain, decorative cream/brown eps, frontis; slight foxing to f.e. Cover: brown tweed, black artwork and titles front, black titles spine; minimal shelfwear. DJ: unclipped in Brodart, color artwork and yellow/white titles front/spine; modest edge/shelfwear w/small chips and narrow loss to head affecting legibility of "e" in the word clue. A nice copy.
