Originally published in Prague in 1938, this is the memoir, translated into English by his grandson, of a Russian mining engineer who observed the growth of industry in Russia, witnessed the revolutions of 1905 and 1917, and supported the anti-Bolshevik forces in the Civil War before leaving the country in 1920; raised in a family of landed gentry, he left this world to become an engineer, a manager of some of Russia's largest mines, and a leader of an influential coal and steel association; includes photographs and a map of the Donbass Region (light gray cloth with a very slightly bumped corner and gray & white dust jacket; a bright, clean, tight copy in nearly perfect condition)
