In his own words, assisted by Tasmanian writer Richard Flanagan, 'Codename IAGO' is the story of Munich, Germany-born John Friedrich (Johann Friedrich Hohenberger), accused fraudster and conman who became Chief Executive Officer of the National Safety Council of Australia - Victorian Division, and set in chain a multi-million dollar invoicing fraud. Under investigation he fled to Western Australia, was discovered and returned to face trial. While awaiting his court case he (mostly) completed this book in late July, 1991. A few days later his body was found with a shot to the head, a handgun by his side, on his property at Seaton, Victoria. The Coroner ruled suicide . . .
