About This Item
Very good. Small broadside (2 1/2" x 13 1/2") containing an excerpt from the Philadelphia Inquirer of April 8, 1876, regarding a meeting of the local Greenback Club. The printed text concludes: "Buy The Inquirer if you wish to have our proceedings. Walter S. Waldie, Secretary. " This broadside was issued to publicize the proceedings of the Philadelphia Greenback Club, whose members lobbied for the repeal of the Resumption Act and for legislation authorizing the issuance of paper money (or "greenbacks") by the federal government. Several crease marks from folding but otherwise fine.
