In Cold Blood. A True Account of a Multiple Murder and Its Consequences by Capote, Truman - 1965

Very Good to Near Fine book with the ubiquitous page browning, several gathering have aged more than the rest, soft at spine ends, very tiny bump bottom edge back board, touch of age toning along top and bottom edges of boards; in a Very Good jacket that has age toning along edges of lighter portions of jacket, light edge and corner wear with a couple of tiny chips top of spine, small dog-ear crease bottom corner front flap, light rubbing both panels and several light overwrite impressions. This copy has no remainder mark and is a nice example of this book, which has generally aged badly over the years. McMurtry's sixth novel was made into a popular 1983 movie with Shirley MacLaine, Jack Nicholson, Debra Winger, and several other well-known stars. The movie was nominated for 11 and won 5 Academy Awards; including Best Picture, Best Actress for Shirley MacLaine, and Best Supporting Actor for Jack Nicholson.

There are three dark spots to the outer pages that seem to be part of the paper itself, otherwise clean. Signed in my presence by Clarke. The black and white American covers with red end-papers were printed simultaneously and are both true first editions. Later printings lack the red end-papers. The American edition precedes the British edition by three weeks. Winner of the 2005 Hugo awards for best novel as well as the World Fantasy Award and the Mythopoeic Fantasy Award.

You will receive two copies of the first English edition book for the same price. One has the first state dust jacket designed by Gill Day and the other has the second state dust jacket designed by Don Macpherson. Neither copy has been read and are in as new condition.

THE LEARNING TREE was the first film directed by an African American and financed by a major Hollywood studio, Warner Brothers. Writer-director Parks adapted his autobiographical novel about a black teenager growing up in Kansas in the 1920s. The film was one of the first twenty-five movies selected in 1989 for preservation as part of the United States National Film Registry.

Binder misprint on spine, "The Man, the Golden, nelson Algrin" double printed in Red. Small damage to top and base of soiled spine. Printing error points on pages 121 and 180 are present, indicating first edition. Frank Sinatra and Kim Novak Starred in a Movie Adaption of this Novel in the Mid 1950's. Signed and inscribed by Algren to Ben Hark, producer of "its your life" a short lived radio series. Sinatra's character is a drug addicted jazz musician, "torn between two women."
