About This Item
London: Faber and Faber Limited, 1947. First edition of the first complete published collection of Sassoon's poems. Octavo, original cloth. Near fine in a good dust jacket. English poet, writer, and soldier Siegfried Sassoon was one of the leading poets of the First World War. His poetry both described the horrors of the trenches and satirized the patriotic pretensions of those who, in Sassoon's view, were responsible for a jingoism-fueled war. Sassoon later won acclaim for his prose work, notably his three-volume fictionalized autobiography, collectively known as the "Sherston trilogy".
