About This Item
Spring Grove, MN. Very good. 7.75" x 9.5" gelatin silver photograph on a 9.75" x 11.75" mount with the stamp of Spring Grove, Minnesota photographer Frank E. Joerg (1869-1932). Some edgewear to mount, image very good. Verso blank.
This wonderfully detailed image shows a man seated holding a shotgun, with a dog asleep on a rug at his feet. Displayed all around him are collections. Photographs, seashells, taxidermy, and figurines are most prominent, but also visible are a stack of books, a painting, an International Tailoring Company advertisement, and other knickknacks and decorative items. Posters of Theodore Roosevelt and his Vice-President Charles W. Fairbanks suggest a date of 1905-1908.
