About This Item

Boston: B.J. Brimmer Co., 1923 Book. Illus. by 114 Halftones Plus 8 Author's Drawings. Good Plus. Hardcover. First Impression, September, 1923. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Original black heavy cloth with gilt lettering on boards. I got excited when I saw this book at a local flea market, and wasn't long buying it! In my 35 years as a flea market vendor I had neither seen it nor heard of it. I realized immediately that here is a "bible" for any dealer or collector of lighting devices. What's more, the lamps are identified as parts of collections belonging to identified parties. Ancient Days, Early Colonial, Later Colonial, Lanterns, Candles, Candle Holders, Glass Lamps, Astral Lamps, Lustre Lamps, Ornamental Candle Holders, and Random Notes on Collecting. The author includes 114 halftones and 8 of his own drawings, and many illustrations are full-page! Binding is a little shaken, but holding together quite well. You can buy a paperback reprint to take shopping, but this fine volume will make a significant contribution as part of your antique lighting collection. Minor cover wear. 159 pp. text plus unpaginated illustrations..
