About This Item
New York: Random House, 1944. Leather Bound. Near Fine . Krendel and Chappell. Complete and unabridged, with notes and glossary and illustrations by Fritz Krendel and Warren Chappell. this collection is housed in a cardboard slip box which is in fine ondition as well as the books themselves. There is a ring stain present on top of the slip box which had no effect on the books within. The books are wrapped in green leather with a raised stamp on each cover, and the spine reflects a red line down the center with the title and author on each book. The gilt surrounding this red column has mostly rubbed off - without effect to the spine or the remainder of the print. The books themselves are in fine condition, with zero markings, underlining or notes noted. Due to the slip box, the pages remain white without yellowing noted. This set should be a welcomed addition to any collection, especially taking it's fine overall condition. Also noted were the wartime restrictions placed upon publishers in order to reduce paper usage. Thinner pages and more text per page was commonplace during World War 2, hence the yellowing.
